Pre-Congress Convocation
An assembly as a body of believers to hear from experts nationally and locally on issues affecting the Black Church and our lives during the pandemic.
The Convocation was held via Zoom on May 19 – 21, 2021.
Wednesday, 19 May
7 pm – 9 pm
Theme: The Black Church Response to Systemic Racism in American Institutions, and Racism During the Pandemic
President Stephen Tucker will lead a panel of religious leaders, nationally and locally, to discuss a Christian response to the uprising of white supremacy, racism in American institutions, efforts to limit our voting rights, and attacks against democracy in America. We will also discuss how COVID-19 has impacted our government and the Black community.

Theme: A Medical Health Update on COVID-19 and the Vaccines for African Americans
School for Health Ministry, under the leadership of Pastor Damion Briggs and Dr. Selena Briggs, MD, will work collaboratively with the National Black Church Initiatives (NBCI) and health care agencies to present an update on COVID-19 and the vaccines. Leading experts will present and answer questions accordingly. This update session will be most relevant, informative briefing on COVID-19, the variants, and the vaccines.
